The Town of Calmar offers a residential Blue Bag Recycling program through Circular Materials to help residents manage their waste responsibly and contribute to a cleaner, greener and more livable community. Collection services are provided by GFL Environmental.

Blue Bag recycling is collected bi-weekly on every second Thursday of the month.

Starting October 1, 2026, residents will be able to recycle even more materials with the same convenience! These materials include glass containers, foam packaging, flexible plastic packaging, aerosol containers, laminated paper and plastic packaging. Click here to see the expanded material list.

This not only provides more convenience but also ensures more materials are captured, processed and looped back into the circular economy for a greater positive impact on the environment.

Please note:

  • Items meant for long term use such as Tupperware, toys, reusable water bottles and cookware do not belong in your recycling. Consider donating them instead.
  • Keep items like household batteries and electronics out of your curbside recycling. If it lights up, beeps, buzzes or charges, it probably has a battery and doesn’t belong in your blue bag.

Be recycle ready

  • Give containers a quick rinse before putting in your recycling.
  • Containers must be empty for recycling
  • Place clean and dry recyclables in your blue bag.
  • Flatten and bundle cardboard to save space.
  • Lids and labels can remain on containers.
  • Have your recycling to the front curb by 7 a.m. on collection day.
  • Hazardous materials, like batteries, medical sharps and hazardous aerosols do not belong in your recycling. You can safely recycle them at the Leduc Eco Station.
