Plans & Projects
At their regular meeting on October 19, 2026, Council approved the Town of Calmar 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, which reflects their shared vision for Calmar’s future – one built on opportunity, strong community connections, and responsible growth.
“This plan reflects our shared vision for Calmar’s future,” said Mayor Krista Gardner. “A future built on opportunity, strong community connections, responsible growth, and a commitment to preserving the qualities that make our town such a special place to call home.”
The plan contains five strategic priorities – each with identified focus areas – to help guide Council’s decisions and investments over the next four years:
- Community Well-Being & Recreation: Investing in inclusive recreation programs that promote wellness, belonging, and community pride; supporting local sports and cultural groups; and developing the Calmar Athletic Park in a phased approach that balances current demand with future growth and opportunities.
- Growing Calmar; Preserving Our Way of Life: Promoting diverse housing options while protecting Calmar’s small-town character, designing walkable neighborhoods, and planning for responsible growth while ensuring municipal infrastructure and services keep apace.
- Economic Prosperity & Opportunity: Supporting local businesses so that they can thrive, attracting new businesses, promoting our industrial lands, and building strong partnerships to create jobs and foster innovation.
- Communication: Enhancing public engagement through timely and transparent information sharing, using more modern communication tools, strengthening our marketing and outreach to attract investment and raise Calmar’s profile, and improving collaboration and information sharing between staff and Council to improve coordination and service delivery.
- Infrastructure: Prioritizing the maintenance and renewal of civic infrastructure and facilities, ensuring new development aligns with infrastructure capacity and long-term community growth goals, and building capital reserves to fund future needs and reduce the burden on future generations.
“The Town recognizes that progress on the identified focus areas requires close collaboration with our public and private sector partners ,” said CAO Sylvain Losier. “Success will also be measured by the continued involvement of residents and volunteers, local businesses and community organizations, and funding commitments from other orders of government.”
