Garbage

The town of Calmar’s waste is trucked to Leduc & District Waste Management Facility, which is located 4km East of Leduc on Rollyview Road. All Calmar Residents are eligible for a Leduc & District Regional Landfill Resident Card, which enables you to bring your household waste to the Landfill free of charge (limit of 1000kg per household annually).

FACTS ABOUT GARBAGE CARTS:

* The carts are property of GFL Environmental Corp. They stay with the home where they are delivered.

* Carts should not be damaged/modified in any way, including adding a lock.

* The carts can hold the equivalent of 3-4 garbage bags.

Residential: $36.00/per billing
Recycling: $15.00/per billing
Infrastructure: $17.00/per billing

Recycling Programs

The town of Calmar is proud to offer the Blue Bag recycling program for the residents of Calmar and area.

Residents are encouraged to recycle, compost and/or mulch.

Blue Bag Pick-up is every other Monday at the Curb Side (front yard)

We are currently accepting the following products for recycling in the Blue Bag:

  • Newsprint
  • Computer paper
  • Mixed paper
  • Cardboard
  • Tin cans
  • Colored plastic
  • Plastic Milk jugs (at the Calmar Bottle Depot)
  • Plastic jugs w/o screw top lids
  • NO STYROFOAM
  • NO STRAWS/PLASTIC UTENSILS
  • NO SINGLE USE PLASTIC
  • NO PLASTIC BAGS
  • NO GLASS JARS
  • NO SHREDDED PAPER (can be mixed in with grass clippings or put in the garbage bin)

Please aid in the efficiency of the recycling process by sorting, flattening and cleaning the products.

Calmar Bottle Depot

4912-50th Ave. accepts all bottles and cans. They also accept all liquid milk product containers. Please “swish & squish” your containers. Phone 780.985.2155 for further details.

Grass Clippings – grass pick-up starts in May

Collection runs from May through October. Clippings must be placed in non-coloured clear plastic bags, in the front yard; they will not be collected if not in specified bags and location. Pick-up day is every Monday.

Spring & Fall Clean Ups

Spring Clean Up runs in May: the week before Victoria Day (Monday – Friday).

Fall Clean Up runs in October: the week before Thanksgiving (Monday – Friday).

CURB-SIDE FRONT YARD PICK-UP ONLY

Maximum pick-up: ½ ton truck load per residence. Branches are to be bundled in 3-foot bundles. Please put metal and electronics in separate piles.

For both clean-ups please note that we DO NOT TAKE concrete, tires, propane bottles, appliances, automotive parts, paint, oil and oil filters, batteries, broken glass, antifreeze or any other hazardous products.

Residents are encouraged to take these items to the Leduc & District Waste Management Facility located off of Rollyview Road at 49444 Range Road 244, Leduc County. Although most items may be dropped off free of charge, items such as propane bottles, concrete and appliances containing Freon will have a charge associated with their disposal.

City Of Leduc Eco station

The City Of Leduc and the Town Of Calmar recently signed an agreement that allows Calmar residents the opportunity to use the Eco Station in the City Of Leduc. The staffed drop-off located at 6102-46 Street, Leduc is designed to divert a range of material from the landfill. Materials are accepted free of charge for recycling, except for general household waste, where the first bag is free and additional bags are $2 each (exact change must be provided.)
