Public Hearings

Public hearings are an opportunity for town of Calmar residents affected by projects or proposals to address Council. Public hearings are required by the Municipal Government Act as part of the adoption or amendment process for statutory plans and the land use bylaw.

The public and other stakeholders can participate in the public hearing process by speaking in person during the public hearing, or by providing written comments on the subject matter prior to the public hearing. Any correspondence received after the public hearing cannot be considered by Council, so it is important that concerned parties participate in the public hearing.

PUBLIC HEARING ANNOUNCEMENT

Your participation and feedback are invaluable as we update our MDP Plan.

What’s Happening:
Council has given First Reading to our updated Municipal Development Plan (MDP). This is a key step in guiding long-term growth, land use, and community priorities.

Why It Matters:
The draft MDP outlines the vision for how our municipality will grow, where development could happen, and how services and infrastructure might evolve. Your feedback helped shape the draft; now is another chance to review before final adoption.

Next Steps:

  • The Plan will go to Second and Final Reading in an upcoming Council meeting on December 1st, 2025.
  • A public hearing will be held (as required under the MGA) before second reading, so that Council can hear from residents.
  • After the final reading, the adopted plan will be published and made available.

How to Get Involved / Provide Feedback:

  1. Review the Draft MDP: View the draft Municipal Development Plan (PDF)
  2. Provide Comments: Submit written feedback via email or in person.
  3. Attend Public Hearing: December 1st, at 6:30 pm in Council Chambers

Your voice matters. Council will consider your input before making decisions.
