Building a Stronger Calmar

Calmar Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) offers programs and events that help neighbours, strengthen connections, and make a lasting impact in our town. Whether you want to lend a hand, attend an event, or connect with others, there’s a place for you here.

Ongoing Programs

Snow Angels is a volunteer program that connects community members with residents who cannot clear snow from their sidewalks due to age, illness, or disability. Volunteers shovel after each snowfall to keep walkways safe and accessible for everyone.

How to Help: Sign up as a Snow Angel volunteer or refer someone who may need this service.

Grass Buddies matches volunteers with residents who need help with lawn mowing or light yard work during the warmer months. The program helps maintain property appearance and supports those unable to manage outdoor work on their own.

How to Help: Offer your time for regular yard maintenance or one-time assistance during the summer.

The Christmas Elves program collects and delivers gifts, food hampers, and seasonal items to households in need. Volunteers and donors work together to make the holiday season brighter for local families.

How to Help: Donate items, help wrap gifts, or assist with deliveries in December. Find more information here

February Kindness Month encourages residents to take part in simple acts of kindness throughout the month. Ideas include sending thank-you notes, running errands for a neighbour, or offering words of encouragement.

How to Participate: Follow the FCSS calendar for kindness challenges and local activities.
